LEGEND: SHAHMARAN – GUARDİAN of WİSDOM
and NATURE!
Summary of the Legend:
Shahmaran is
known as the queen of snakes—a mythical creature with the body of a serpent and
the head of a woman. Told in southeastern Turkey, especially around Tarsus and
Mardin, the legend describes Shahmaran as a wise and peaceful being who lives
underground among snakes. One day, a young man named Cemşab accidentally
discovers her hidden world. They form a bond of trust and friendship. When
Cemşab’s people fall ill, they seek Shahmaran’s wisdom. Cemşab reveals her
location, and Shahmaran is killed. However, her knowledge heals the people.
Despite her death, the snakes do not seek revenge, as her sacrifice was for the
greater good.
